Hi, I'm a teenager and at school I am quite intimidated by the mean 'popular' girls. I'm not a shy person but I'm not too confident either and sometimes I just feel very nervous and I was wondering if you had any advice on how to ignore mean people and to feel more confidentđź’—
Hi đź’— Dealing with people who act mean can really knock our confidence.
Know that you don’t need to be super loud or totally fearless to be confident.
Real confidence often comes from backing yourself, knowing your worth, and not letting other people decide how you feel about yourself.
👉 One thing that can help is focusing on the people who do make you feel good – even one kind friend is more powerful than a whole group who don’t
👉 If someone says something unkind, it’s okay to walk away, change the subject or give a short answer like "why would you say that?" – you don’t owe them a reaction
👉 Try reminding yourself that a lot of people who act “popular” are also under pressure to seem a certain way – it’s not really about you
Confidence isn't something you have or don’t have, it’s something you grow, bit by bit.
Choosing to be kind, showing up as yourself, or even just getting through a tricky day are all signs of strength đź’«
Hope this helps 🦋
