Can your uterus fall out when you are older

Can your uterus fall out when you are older

Female health

Thanks for your question! 💕

It's possible for the pelvic organs to 'prolapse' with age. Rather than falling out completely, this is where one or more of the pelvic organs (the bladder, rectum or, less commonly, uterus) slip down from their normal position and bulge into the vagina💡

There are a number of things that can increase the risk of a prolapse, including:

  • pregnancy and childbirth
  • getting older
  • being overweight or obese
  • having a chronic cough
  • constipation
  • repeated heavy lifting
  • having a family history of prolapse
  • having a history of pelvic surgery
