How can i tell my mom that i want to start shaving?
Hi there! First off – there is zero shame in having body hair 💛
Everyone’s different, and whether you choose to keep it, trim it or remove it is totally up to you.
What matters most is that this is something you want to do – not something you feel pressured into by friends, social media or anyone else.
If you’ve thought it through and feel ready to talk to your mum, here are some tips that might help:
🕰 Pick the right moment: choose a calm time when you’re both relaxed – maybe while you’re walking, cooking together, or just hanging out
🗣 Be honest: let her know how you’re feeling – explain that you’ve been thinking about shaving and why it feels like the right choice for you
👂 Listen to her thoughts: she might want to share her own experiences or give some advice – it doesn’t mean she’s saying no, just that she cares
🧴 Suggest a gentle starting point: if she seems unsure, you could suggest starting slowly with something like trimming or a hair removal cream – or simply agree to chat again later if she wants time to think
💡 Remember: this is your body, and it’s okay to make choices that help you feel more confident or comfortable, but it’s also okay to take your time figuring that out
Starting conversations like this is a really mature thing to do and even if it feels awkward at first, you're building trust just by opening up 🫶
