I drive for attention at school and I am starting to freak out when no one is paying attention to me
Hi 🫶 Thanks for being honest with luna – it takes a lot of self-awareness to notice these things about yourself.
It’s completely normal to want attention. We all want to feel seen and valued. But if you’re feeling anxious when you're not getting it, that’s a sign it might be time to explore why that is, and what kinds of attention make you feel good long term.
👉 Try getting involved in things that channel your energy in positive ways – drama, debate, music, sports, or helping out in class; these can give you a sense of recognition that feels earned and rewarding
👉 Remember: kindness and quiet confidence can attract just as much (if not more) respect than trying to be the loudest in the room
👉 It’s also okay to talk to someone about this – a parent, teacher or pastoral staff member can help you figure out what’s really going on underneath, and offer support without judgement
Needing connection doesn’t make you “too much”, but learning to find that validation within yourself too if just as important.
