Mental health & wellbeing

Really sorry to hear you’re feeling like this 🫶 Lots of people feel stressed by things going on at school and outside of it.

The biggest thing to keep in mind is that no one is perfect. Whenever something gets overwhelming, please tell yourself "this too will pass" – in the future, whatever is happening right now will always feel like less of a big deal than in the moment. Perspective is an amazing thing!

Here are some of luna's top tips to help:

  • Try and build a good support network: having trusting people to talk to can take away big pressures. These can be parents, siblings, friends, and/or trusted adults like carers or teachers
  • Taking breaks: spending time off an overwhelming situation and using it to relax can help avoid high stress levels
  • Look around: people can feel stress because other people around them are. Trying to speak with the other person or spending some time apart may be helpful
  • Getting enough sleep: a body that is well rested is more likely to manage stress better, a good night's sleep can also offer perspective and can make you realise that what you might be worrying out isn't as bad as you may think ❤️
  • Developing new interests: people who spend time doing things they enjoy can create positive distractions from feelings of stress
  • Try and stay active: this can be hard when you don’t feel up for it, but try to find some form of  exercise you enjoy. This is a great way to help you manage stress but you’ll only realise that once you’ve tried it!

Occasionally, people may find it difficult to manage their stress. When stress gets too intense and stops people from doing what they want or can do, then they may need professional help especially if you feel your mood is low or you're constantly feeling anxious.

If you ever feel overwhelmed by stress or if you just want to speak to someone about what makes you feel stressed, you could first try speaking to your parent/carer/teacher and then if needed make an appointment with your GP.

You might even want to speak/see the GP with your parent/carer/teacher.  If at any point you feel suicidal or at risk of self harm it is very important you arrange to speak to a doctor today either through your GP or A&E as appropriate.

Thank you so much for sending in your question - sending you positive vibes and remember to reach out to someone if you feel you need some extra support ✨
