This is a super interesting one. The theory behind period syncing is based on research from the 1970s that looked at the potential role of female’s pheromones (the chemicals we naturally give off) influencing other females and causing cycles to sync. Since then, whilst period syncing hasn’t been researched very much, there's extremely little evidence to suggest it really does happen, and so it appears to be nothing more than a myth.
So, don’t worry if your period is or isn’t syncing with your female friends or family. There's no expectation that you should sync, and if you have synced, it's likely just a funny coincidence! It might make going through your period together just a little easier 🩸
