Best apps for anxious teens

Supporting your teen through anxiety

Growing up

Updated February 18, 2026

Feeling anxious is a normal part of being a teen, but sometimes those worries can start to take over day-to-day life.

The right app can give teens gentle guidance, practical coping tools, and a safe space to reflect on their feelings.

From mindfulness exercises to mood tracking and interactive coping strategies, these apps help teens learn how to manage anxiety, build confidence, and feel more in control – all at their own pace.

luna

Age rating: 11+ (13+ in the US)

luna supports teens who feel anxious by helping them understand the connection between mood, hormones, sleep, and everyday stress.

Through mood and symptom tracking, teens can start to notice patterns in when anxiety feels worse and what helps them feel calmer and more in control, building awareness before worries begin to feel overwhelming.

The app also includes dedicated guidance around anxiety, emotional wellbeing, and growing up, written specifically for teens and reviewed by medical experts.

Teens can ask anonymous questions and receive supportive, expert-reviewed answers, which can help reduce worry around topics they may feel embarrassed or unsure about discussing elsewhere.

For many teens, anxiety is made worse by confusing or unrealistic information online.

luna offers a calmer, judgement-free space to learn, reflect, and feel reassured – supporting everyday emotional wellbeing rather than acting as a crisis service.

Are apps for anxiety a good idea for teens?

Yes – the right apps can give teens practical coping tools, teach mindfulness, and provide a safe space to reflect on their feelings at their own pace.

For many teens, small daily habits like mood tracking, breathing exercises, or guided reflection can help them feel more in control and better able to manage everyday stress.

However, apps work best as support tools, not replacements for real-world help.

If anxiety is starting to affect your teen’s sleep, school, friendships, or confidence, or if worries feel constant or overwhelming, extra support may be needed.

Apps can help teens understand their feelings, but they cannot replace professional care or ongoing emotional support from trusted adults.

If you’re noticing ongoing changes in mood, behaviour, or physical symptoms, it may help to speak with a doctor, school counsellor, or mental health professional. Early support often makes anxiety easier to manage.

You can also read our guide on teenage anxiety: spotting the signs, which explains what parents should look for, how to help at home, and when to seek medical advice.

Used alongside open conversations and appropriate support, apps can still play a positive role.

They can give teens a starting point for understanding anxiety, practising coping skills, and building confidence in managing difficult feelings over time.
