Hey luna, I’m starting high school in September and I’m very insecure about my weight and get picked on for it I’ve tried everything to lose weight and it doesn’t work and I don’t want this to continue at high school.
Hi, starting high school can make hurtful comments feel even louder, but there are two separate things to tackle here 💛
You don't need to change your body to deserve respect, and no one deserves to be picked on because of their weight.
Weight can normally change while your body grows and goes through puberty, so luna doesn't recommend trying to lose weight unless a doctor has told you that you're overweight.
Strict diets and intense exercise plans aren't healthy or easy to keep up long-term.
If a doctor has said you're overweight, balanced meals and regular activities you actually enjoy, like walking, dancing, swimming or sport, can help.
For your confidence, you could write down the strengths, talents and qualities you like about yourself, spend time with supportive people, and make space for things that help you feel happy and relaxed 🫶
If the bullying continues at high school, tell someone at school and a parent or trusted adult so they can support you and take action.
If the comments are making you feel really down, you could also speak to a teacher or school counsellor rather than handling it alone.
You deserve to feel safe and confident as you start this next chapter ✨
Take care of yourself 🌷
